Mentoring
I’ve been lucky enough to have worked with a number of talented designers over the years, seeing them grow from junior or senior level to lead or director levels.
I always attempt to lead with the following considerations in mind:
Provide clarity in business needs, goals, and prioritization.
Create an ‘open door’ policy that provides a safe place to question anything at anytime.
Make sure designers have the information and resources they need to do their job effectively.
Help them to hone-in on the real problems we’re solving and not get lost in “shiny new toys” as we attempt to innovate.
